What is the Rotary Youth Exchange Program?

The Rotary YEP is a program run by Rotary International and is a program whereby a student between the ages of 15 and 18 goes to spend one year studying in a foreign country. It is a program designed to foster international understanding and cultural awareness. If you wish to apply, contact your local Rotary club.

During the year spent abroad, the student lives with several host families from the hosting country and attends a high school in that country. The idea is to try to integrate yourself as much as possible into the culture in which you are being immerged.

By all accounts (that I have heard!), it is a very positive experience and students learn much about the culture, but also about themselves. They come back much more complete people, better able to cope in today's world. They also have the opportunity to make friends from all over the world, and to have heaps of fun doing so!
